National House Rabbit Society licenses local chapters to educate and rescue throughout the United States, Canada, and now Europe. A chapter is tax-exempt corporation with similar purposes, philosophy and policies as House Rabbit Society, licensed by HRS to use its name and materials. It operates fostering and education programs that follow HRS guidelines. All House Rabbit Societies must apply to be a chapter, must agree with the HRS Philosophy, must follow HRS standards of care, and must sign a Chapter Pledge with us in order to receive their annual license.

Local chapters are not supported financially by the national House Rabbit Society, so we encourage you to support your local chapter directly. What is the relationship of House Rabbit Society and our chapters? National House Rabbit Society DOES: issue an annual license to use our materials; provide educational support and networking within HRS; provide insurance; provide national publicity; offer grants; provide membership lists to chapters collecting national membership and share a percentage of that fee; provide in-service training National DOES NOT get involved with or resolve issues or problems within or between chapters or handle personal issues, complaints or grievances.
