What Are the Symptoms of Enteritis? Regarding enteritis (Vol II, #3):Could you expand on what symptoms one would observe in this condition? Michael E. Bays Santa Cruz, California What we watch are behavior, posture and droppings. Prolonged periods of crouching, sometimes teeth-crunching, and protruding eyes may signal discomfort. Listless-ness is a real sign of trouble. Mucus is sometimes seen in the stools, as a result of increased intestinal secretions that form a protective coating over the intestinal lining. Some rabbits experience pica (peculiar cravings for inedibles). If your normally well-behaved older rabbit suddenly starts chewing the plaster, don't just assume it's a behavior problem. |
