New Mexico House Rabbit Society is a small collection of dedicated volunteers working to help rabbits who need homes in New Mexico, with a special focus on the Albuquerque area. We are also an official chapter of
House Rabbit Society.
We assist local animal shelters, especially
Albuquerque Animal Care, with their rabbit program by
- providing volunteers to help care for the rabbits at the shelter
- providing educational materials to provide to rabbit adopters
- rescuing rabbits when we have space in our foster program
- providing training to shelter staff on rabbit care and adoptions
- helping to publicize the rabbits at the shelter
Adoptable Rabbits in Albuquerque
We run a program at two local Petco stores whereby we provide spayed and neutered rabbits from the Albuquerque shelter, and adopt them out through the Petco stores.
Our rabbits are at two local stores:
- Petco Lomas 10700 Lomas NE Albuquerque, NM 87112 505-296-0978
- Petco Westside 3601 Old Airport Road Suite C Albuquerque, NM 87114 505-898-2450
To see the
adoptable rabbits that we have in our Petco stores, at the city shelter, or in our foster homes, please visit
our adoptions page or
our Petfinder site to see all the rabbits for adoption.
Please also visit our two local animal shelters:

Interested in adopting?
Just download our
adoption application and fill it out; we will get back to you and set up a time to meet if all looks good.
Need to find a home for your rabbit?

Watch Our Babies Grow!
Ten newborn bunnies were orphaned when they were born outside and their mom was killed by the family dog. Three remain and are being fostered by two NM HRS volunteers.
