Adoptable Rabbits at New Mexico House Rabbit Society

Following are the rabbits available through New Mexico House Rabbit Society.

To find out more, please call 505-292-6030 or email Bill Velasquez.

Note: House Rabbit Society does not take in rabbits from the public. We only rescue rabbits directly from shelters. For information about finding a home for your rabbit, please visit here.

Supporting HRS New Mexico
You can donate to help our rescuers care for rabbits in New Mexico; in the memo section of the check write "for New Mexico operations." All contributions received will go directly to the medical expenses of the rabbits.

Cali is a sweet girl who just wants to be loved.  She has been through a lot of changes in her short time with us.  She was rescued from a hoarding case and placed in the Santa Fe Shelter.   While there she was overlooked because she is shy.    She almost found love with a boy bun, but it wasn't meant to be and she is now back with us looking for a home where she can run/play/cuddle and be the loving house bunny she knows she can be.  We do not recommend her for homes with dogs or children because she would do best with one on one attention.

Willy (no photo yet) was abandoned in a neighborhood this summer and forced to fend for himself. Lucky for him that a kind individual kept an eye out for him through the summer and fall. In December she noticed something was not quite right with him and on closer inspection realized that his right eye was hanging out of the socket. Willy had been attacked! She rushed him to a vet and that is when NM HRS got involved. Now one-eyed Willy is safely  recuperating in the home of his guardian-angel-turned-foster-mom.

It turns out that Willy is one friendly, mellow rabbit.  And handsome too! He likes people and isn’t afraid of dogs and cats. Things are sure looking up for Willy these days. Now all he needs is a forever family to call his own that will never, ever again put him in harm’s way.

Blackberry is three years old and has been returned to the HRS because his owner could no longer care for him. He is a black satin with chocolate tummy and paws and is lop-earred.  He is shy and cautious, litterbox trained and neutered.

Fluffanella is three years old, a white angora with gray-tipped ears, paws and nose.  She is curious, trusting, and loves to be held.  She is litterbox trained and spayed.  Loves bananas, carrots, and apples for treats. Please contact us if you are interested in adopting this sweet bunny.

Buster and Hannah are desperately seeking a forever home. They've had some really bad luck in the past  (they recently lost their home for the 2nd time in their lives) and they need a home they can really count on. They come with their own cage. Please contact us if you are interested in these two adorable bunnies. Buster enjoys being held and cuddled and he has been around dogs and cats. Hannah is a little more shy and she doesn't have experience with other animals.

Meet Cooper, the latest Petco bunny. Cooper is the son of Cindy and brother of Shelley who is at West. Cooper is now living at the Petco on Lomas. He is 8 months old and delightfully sweet. Cooper gets along with dogs but would be best in a home without children.

Shelley is at the Petco on the West Side (Old Airport Road) and he is very sweet and lovable. He is all white with blue eyes. Adorable! Shelley gets along with dogs but prefers a home without children.

Clover and Skittles are two beautiful young ladies who are eagerly awaiting their forever home.  They have been together since birth and must be adopted together as a pair.  Since they were three weeks old they were nursed from a bottle until they reached the age of 12 weeks.  They are both very active and love attention, especially a good long nose rub.  They love their salads with their favorite treat being bananas.  They are very sweet and would make a wonderful addition to your family.

Gracie and the Bear are a playful loving couple that enjoy lounging around the house and snuggling with each other.   They are calm and relaxed lop and half lop bunnies who recently lost their home.   They would love to find a place where they can feel safe and know that they will be loved forever.  This is a male female bonded pair and they must be adopted together.  Gracie and the Bear are currently in foster care.

Elmer and Elsie arrived at the ABQ shelter together but lost each other once there. They ended up in separate cages and were all set to be adopted out as singles until one of our members figured out they were a bonded pair. These two love each other like only two bonded bunnies can and they mustbe adopted together.  Check our link for more information about the joy of living with a bonded pair:  http://www.rabbit.org/journal/3-8/rabbits-in-the-plural.html  Elmer and Elsie are currently in foster care mending from their spay/neuter surgeries but will soon be at Petco.

THE FOLLOWING RABBITS ARE AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION AT THE ALBUQUERQUE CITY SHELTER. Contact http://www.cabq.gov/pets for more information.
