arming. And, funny! The bunnies
were so confused that it was like watching a sea of rabbits (waves!) until they calmed
down a bit."

| A view of the bunnies from the back of the garage
where they are housed. In what one volunteer titled, "the biggest darned x-pen anyone
ever saw," all 22 rabbits joined together into one very busy group. |
Volunteers plan to extend the pen even further in good weather, allowing the bunnies to
have full run of the garage and driveway.

This view is from the front of the
garage, where the pen extends out a bit into the driveway. The boxes and bins stacked to
the left contain donations of hay, pellets, and other supplies, from as far away as
Singapore! |
For foster mom Karen Courtemanche, caring for the Hayward Rabbits has become a full-time
job. Of course, she has the assistance of many dedicated volunteers, whose help makes a
rescue of this size possible.
 |
| Karen sweeps the pen several times each day. Most of
the bunnies are doing a good job of using the litterboxes, but with this many bunnies
housed together territory marking is to be expected. |

Angel bunny says, "Thank you for your
support!"
|
| Taking care of the
Hayward Rescue Rabbits, in addition to the usual four to five dozen rabbits in the care of
HRS' National Shelter and its fosterers, has driven the House Rabbit Society veterinary
bill to over $11,000. We need your support - now - more than ever before. If you would like to donate toward the medical or care
costs of these bunnies, please send a check to: HRS, 148 Broadway, Richmond, CA 94804.
