Building a Healthy Environment
for Rabbits Who Had So Little

One of the next moves for rescuers was to provide the Hayward Rabbits with a healthy and stimulating environment. Rabbits are very social and need to stay busy. They need a place to congregate together, and a way to naturally exercise. To facilitate this, volunteers designed and built a special play structure which provides the rabbits with physical activity and mental stimulation. The structures (there are two) were built inside the rabbits' penned areas and are used for c, socializing, playing, and sleeping.

The first structure built was for the girls.

and, it's a hit!

The girls loved their play structure so much that volunteers got to work and immediately built one for the boys. As you can see, all the Hayward Rabbits now have a place to play, climb, socialize, and snooze. This gives them the mental and physical stimulation they require.

Many, many thanks to the enterprising and hard-working volunteers who created the play structure for all the Hayward Bunnies:

  • Kelle Kacmarcik

  • Angela Lau

  • Anthony Lessing

  • Justus Pang
